Unilever’s North American headquarters, in New Jersey, was our first project in the United States. The project was completed in 2018, and created a new modern workplace from a collection of five previously existing office buildings. Sustainability was at the heart of the project from the get-go; it was carried out as part of Unilever’s Sustainable Living plan, which would see the company half its carbon footprint. bGrid helped to establish the technological backbone of the new building. This includes 15,000 sensors which collect data and allow building managers to optimise the building according to occupant behaviours.
The building was designed according to the WELL Gold certification, which provides strategies to make a building healthier and more comfortable for its occupants. After completion, the Unilever headquarters received the highest level LEED certification: LEED Platinum. According to the US Green Building Council, “LEED-certified buildings save money, improve efficiency, lower carbon emissions and create healthier places for people. They are critical to addressing climate change and meeting ESG goals, enhancing resilience, and supporting more equitable communities.”
We deliver you the building as a smartphone. Features that update like apps and hard data to talk numbers!
