When MiddleCap purchased the Southworks building in London, they made the decision to prioritize smart building infrastructure to differentiate themselves in the market. In doing so, they invited us at bGrid to create the smart core of the building using our network of omni-sensor nodes. These sensors collect and monitor building data so that it can be analysed to improve the building for the owners and users. Based on this data, bGrid provides building managers with actionable insights they can use to make the building healthier, more comfortable, and more energy efficient.
bGrid’s network of sensors is connected to the HVAC system and lighting controls at Southworks, enabling users to easily monitor and control their environment. We also measure occupancy and noise levels, to give users an informed choice about what area of the building to work in. Based on our data, building occupants can use an app on their phone to directly control heating and lighting to their own preferences and book meeting rooms, creating the optimum working environment. This will help to optimise the building both a day-to-day basis, and as Southworks evolves year-on-year, as the bGrid system is future-proofed and flexible enough to incorporate changes to the internal layout or technological upgrades.
Since it opened in 2021, Southworks has since become the first building in the United Kingdom to undergo evaluation based on the Smart Building Certification framework, which recognizes buildings with advanced technology infrastructure that enhances behaviour and performance across various core areas. With its technology-focused approach and integrated design, Southworks creates a responsive and productive environment that prioritizes user well-being. It was also bGrid’s first UK-based project, and we look forward to continuing to work with the Southworks team for years to come.
We deliver you the building as a smartphone. Features that update like apps and hard data to talk numbers!
